A nature-inspired “pod”

As a student in ceramic sculpture at Santa Rosa Junior College, I was blessed to have the chance to learn from the fabulous Anna Vaughn. At the time, Anna was living and working as part of the team at Cobb Mountain, and was able to secure a spot in their huge anagama wood-fired kiln for a few of our class pieces. I was amazed to see the changes that the heat and ash created in the naked surface of the clay. I can’t wait to do more wood firing!

This piece was featured in the Sebastopol Center for the Arts Emerging Artist Incubator Program group show at Graton Gallery, and was acquired. I’m thrilled to know it is off to a new adventure!
